Erfurt's
former Krämerbrücke Museum
|
|
Several years after Germany's reunification a bridge museum
was established in
Krämerbrücke Number 20, house "Zum Engelsröschen"
and in house Number 21, "Zum weißen Strauß",
originating from three houses. The old substance of the building
is still noticeable here. The history of the bridge and several
collections, particularly toys, were shown.

Until the 19th century street numbers were unknown, the houses had signs instead of numbers;
for example, Krämerbrücke Number 3, House "Zum
Grabscheid" ("The Spade), Number 4, "Zum bunten
Löwen" ("The Colored Lion"), Number 8,
"Zu den drei nackigen Kindern" ("The Three
Naked Children") - "Zur weißen Lilie" ("The White Lily") - "Zu den Störchen" ("The Storks"), Number 9, "Zum güldenen
Schweinskopf" ("The Golden Hog's Head") and
house Number 22, "Zum schwarzen Rade und eisernen Hute"
("The Black Wheel and Iron Hat).
